Jamie Davidson is an interdisciplinary artist, ethnographer and educator. She holds a B.A. in Philosophy, an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Humanities and another M.A. in Literature. She is a Fulbright scholar and a Ph.D. Candidate in World Arts and Cultures/Dance at UCLA. For over ten years, she taught Humanities, Intercultural Performance and Critical Theory at California colleges and universities. She was also a lead dancer in a San Francisco-based Brazilian dance company, and brought this unusual experience to her (highly participatory) fieldwork. Her doctoral research regards African-derived religions in Brazil. Upon becoming a mother, she created programs in Arts & Culture for younger audiences. Jamie is a 2017 recipient of a Community Arts Access Grant (NEA & IAC), and a Global Arts Grant (Black Rock Arts Foundation).
